Recognized and growing Property and Casualty Insurance company is seeking a Commercial Underwriter with a specialty in Architects and Engineers for their Philadelphia operation. Candidates will be responsible for the underwriting and marketing of A&E accounts in the Northeast.
Essential Functions:
- Selects, underwrites, and prices risks.
- Maintains underwriting quality standards and ensures customer satisfaction.
- Creatively responds to unusual requests or broker/client demands.
- Compiles, develops, and verifies information necessary for rendering an underwriting decision.
- Investigates and analyzes prior loss history, evaluating hazards and exposures and other pertinent data necessary for correctly pricing and evaluating risks.
- Recommends alternative coverage options when appropriate.
- Completes all necessary documentation relating to the final underwriting decisions.
- Meets high service standards for timely quoting, binding, policy issuance and response to calls and emails.
- Develops and maintains strong broker relationships.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience underwriting A&E accounts.
- Good technical background in Architects and Engineers Professional Liability.
- Strong communication and marketing skills
- Significant broker relationships essential
- Ability to work effectively in a team oriented office.
- Track record of strong broker relationships.
