Recognized and growing Property and Casualty Insurance company is seeking a Commercial Underwriter with a specialty in Architects and Engineers for their Philadelphia operation.  Candidates will be responsible for the underwriting and marketing of A&E accounts in the Northeast.

Essential Functions:

• Selects, underwrites, and prices risks.
• Maintains underwriting quality standards and ensures customer satisfaction.
• Creatively responds to unusual requests or broker/client demands.
• Compiles, develops, and verifies information necessary for rendering an underwriting decision.
• Investigates and analyzes prior loss history, evaluating hazards and exposures and other pertinent data necessary for correctly pricing and evaluating risks.
• Recommends alternative coverage options when appropriate.
• Completes all necessary documentation relating to the final underwriting decisions.
• Meets high service standards for timely quoting, binding, policy issuance and response to calls and emails.
• Develops and maintains strong broker relationships.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 2 years experience underwriting A&E accounts.
• Good technical background in Architects and Engineers Professional Liability.
• Strong communication and marketing skills
• Significant broker relationships essential
• Ability to work effectively in a team oriented office.
• Track record of strong broker relationships.
