Growing and profitable Property and Casualty Insurance company is seeking a Vice President of Worker's Compensation Underwriting in New York. The primary responsibilities of the Vice President, Worker's Compensation Underwriting Manager is to assume a leadership role and participate in the development and management of Tower Group's expansion and growth strategies. This individual will coordinate management, assets and resources across the Corporation to ensure the success of diverse Home Office Underwriting plans and objectives.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management and development of Tower's growing National Worker's Compensation book.
- Support and advance corporate development initiatives with mergers and acquisitions and provide consultation underwriting expertise on integration, infrastructure and field operating units.
- Assist in the execution of the Worker's Compensation business plan with cross functional management and alignment of Underwriting, Distribution and Field.
- Manage corporate controls relating to the line of business such as audit and maintenance of logs.
- Interface with IT, Field and Home Office Underwriting and Operations to provide streamlined workflows, improve efficiency and costs associated with critical systems interfaces and productivity management
- Recommend and develop underwriting standards that keep pace with a rapidly expanding organization and coordinate their implementation
Desirable Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of the P&C industry including marketplace competition and key regulatory issues.
- Knowledge or experience with alternative risk plans such as captives, retrospective rating and dividend plans.
- Experience working within a matrix style management environment.
- Proven leadership and strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to identify key messages and to compile information from multiple sources and present it with clarity and concision to senior management.
- Ability to develop constructive, collaborative working relationships with others.
- Windows Office Suite skills.
Experience and Education Requirements:
- 10-15 years of Insurance Carrier Commercial Lines Underwriting experience with a significant multi-state background in Worker's Compensation.
- Bachelor of Arts preferred and insurance designations such as CPCU a plus.
- Proven project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interface with different business and operating units on major systems projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills and good presentation skills required.
