The risk management consulting arm of a major financial services organization is seeking an Insurance Analyst for their Dallas operation. While we are looking for an analyst, the individual should have some claims experience with capability of branching into the risk management space (contract review, assist on renewals, run with deals in the future). The claims to risk management tasks at this juncture would be 60/40 %. Ideal candidate would have 3-5 years experience in P&C insurance and could come from the carrier, retail broker or corporate risk management sides of the business.
Job Duties:
- Assist in the management of claims vendors to ensure proactive claims management. Performs periodic quality control claims audits and participates in strategic claim reviews to ensure claims are being managed proactively and in accordance with our company’s philosophy.
- Liaise between insurance carrier loss control an internal business partners to assist business with loss control efforts.
- Identifies, monitors, and remains proactively involved in high exposure claims to minimize costs to the organization, and communicate and coordinate with internal partners.
- Creating and distributing management reports (high frequency/severity incidents, analytical and trend analysis).
- Develops reports in the company’s risk management information system
- Ensures lawsuits are tendered to appropriate insurance carriers and third party administrators, and discovery requests are completed on a timely basis.
- Analyzes and authorizes settlements within assigned authority level. Provides thorough analysis and recommendations to Director/Claims Manager for settlements above authority level. Collaborates with vendors and internal partners to coordinate claim resolutions.
- Participate in the due diligence process for real estate acquisitions consisting of contract review, analysis of underwriting information, placement of appropriate coverages, review of binders, endorsements and premium invoices
- Obtain underwriting information for potential real estate acquisitions, analyze risks and provide estimated premium quotations
- Participate in annual renewal process including, but not limited to review of underwriting data, specifications, carrier discussions, review of quotations and approval of premium allocation schedules
- Review insurance and indemnification provisions of contracts (i.e., tenant leases, construction, engineering, architect, partnership agreements, etc.) prior to document execution to insure that they conform to company standards
- Review binders, endorsements and polices to insure accuracy of terms and conditions
- Address questions related to claims and/or any other Risk Management issues.
- Handle and assist in multiple projects, presentations and tasks.
Technical Proficiency:
- Knowledge of commercial General Liability and/or commercial Property claims and handling procedures.
- Analytical competency; capable of manipulating complex data in Excel and Access. Programming knowledge/experience a plus.
- Experience with Insurance carrier and Broker Risk Management Information Systems.
- Experience in financial analysis, accounting allocation and competent at ad hoc reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communications.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to use initiative and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor degree or equivalent with emphasis in risk, insurance or claims management.
- A minimum of 4 years experience handling commercial GL/Property claims with a broker, carrier or TPA.
- A minimum of 1 year risk analysis experience with broker, risk management
- Strong analytic problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Well organized, project oriented mindset to balance competing priorities among multiple customer groups.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Effective organizational and project management skills
- Ability to use discretion and understand confidentiality issues
