FINANCIAL CONTROLLER - Midwest

Recognized and growing Property and Casualty Insurance company is seeking a Controller for their central Midwest operations. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Supervision of GAAP and STAT accounting, statutory reporting, tax and financial compliance and reporting, budget versus actual reporting and results analysis
  • Annual Plan and Budget preparation and compliance
  • Consolidation reporting to parent company
  • Treasury management for operating cash accounts and related banking relationships
  • Accounts payable, payroll, reinsurance accounting (both assumed and ceded) statistical reporting to NCCI, and investment accounting
  • Management of the Premium Audit  and Claims Reimbursement Functions
  •  Management of Internal Audit and SOX Compliance
  • Management of the Company’s receivables, both premium and loss related

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  MBA or equivalent preferred
  • CPA required
  • 7 or more years insurance industry management experience
  • Big Four or large regional CPA firm, including manager level or above client responsibilities.
  • Large property casualty insurance organization experience, including: responsibility for overall accounting operations; SOX environment background; statutory reporting and compliance experience in multi-state environment; public company experience preferred
  • Significant experience with PeopleSoft or similar ERP application
  • Advanced ability to effectively communicate with all company stakeholders both internal and external
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent decision-making skills
  • Advanced skill utilizing MS Excel
