Our client is seeking a claims manager for their Dallas operation.  Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 7 years claims experience in workers' compensation with a minimum of 4 years supervisory/management experience.  Extensive experience with Workers' Compensation in Texas and experience with self managing claims will be required. Strong technical expertise of workers' compensation law will be important.  You will manage a staff of 6 that will grow from there.

Specific job duties and responsibilities include:

• Develop and lead a team of workers' compensation specialists who have accountability for customers throughout the State of Texas.
• Provide direction, leadership and training to in-house claims professionals.
• Establish a cohesive claim management platform across all business units for the intake, validation, communication and aggregation of claims data.
• Manage vendor relations to develop optimum case outcomes, cost performance, and measurement criteria.
• Establish working relationships with diverse Business Unit leaders on claims related issues, including strategic loss reduction initiatives.
• Work closely with other business partners to create and implement business plans for the region which highlight marketing, loss cost and expense management.
• Establish, refine and evolve best-in-class claim management program operating characteristics, measurement criteria, and meaningful metrics benchmarking.
• Provide advice and oversight into claim disposition strategies, workers compensation statutes, managed care techniques, and tort law.  Candidates can come from the carrier or broker/TPA side of the business.

Qualifications:

• 4 year college degree
• A minimum of 7 years claims handling experience focusing in worker's compensation claims
• A minimum of 4 years experience managing a claims department at either the branch or regional level
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Need to be a "hands on" manager who likes to work closely with their people
