Recognized and profitable Property and Casualty Insurance company is seeking a Chief Actuary for their Dallas operation. We are currently searching for a Chief Actuary to lead the development and maintenance of actuarial processes and standards within the company. This position will proactively participate with the senior management in developing and executing strategic plans and business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Performing advanced actuarial analysis in the following areas: reserving, pricing, product development, research/support and business planning
- Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency and effectiveness supporting our company goals of optimized profitability, managed growth and enhanced competitive advantage
- Investigate changes in trend (frequency and severity) and impacts on reserve selections as well as forecasts for future periods
- Partner with the Underwriting department to develop predictive models that enhance underwriting performance
- Work in collaboration with underwriting, claims, and senior management to make recommendations impacting pricing, planning and reserving
- Develop indications, rate proposals, and filing support
- Manage and direct students and analysts
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Masters degree preferred, ACAS or FCAS is required.
- 7-10 years progressively responsible experience, preferably in the property and casualty insurance industry, with 2-5 years of management/supervisory experience
- Ability to foster teamwork and relationships across organizational lines
- Knowledge of underwriting concepts including company/agency relationships’ importance to the business success
- Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively express technical actuarial and statistical concepts to non-technical individuals internal and external to the organization
- Knowledge of actuarial and statistical concepts
- Experience developing and implementing Statistical Predictive Models
- Solid knowledge of Excel, Access, SQL and VBA
